Meiringen Air Base – LSMM – Runway 10/28

Nestled deep within the dramatic limestone cliffs of the Bernese Oberland, Meiringen Air Base (LSMM) is one of the Swiss Air Force’s most strategically vital and visually stunning installations. Primarily known as an interceptor base for the F/A-18 Hornet fleet, the site is famous for its unique underground aircraft caverns carved directly into the mountainside. Situated at an elevation of 577 meters, the airfield is defined by its single concrete runway, designated 10/28, which measures 2,003 meters in length and 39 meters in width.
